A scratch-built miniature arcade cabinet running RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi 3B.

Electronics Coding

A miniature arcade cabinet built from scratch — custom enclosure, screen, controls, and a Raspberry Pi 3B running RetroPie.

Finished mini arcade cabinet

Build

The enclosure was designed and cut to match classic arcade cabinet proportions at a smaller scale. A small monitor sits behind the screen bezel, and arcade-style buttons and a joystick are wired directly to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins.

RetroPie handles the frontend and emulation — giving access to a library of classic games with proper controller mapping and per-system configuration.

What I Learned

Fitting everything — power supply, Pi, screen driver board, USB hub, and wiring — into a compact enclosure without overheating took more iteration than expected. Cable management and thermal airflow in small enclosures matters a lot.
